Astrobotic Technology is a Pittsburgh-based space robotics company founded in 2007 by Carnegie Mellon roboticist Red Whittaker. It builds lunar landers (Peregrine, Griffin), planetary rovers, spacecraft avionics and lunar surface power infrastructure, largely under NASA Commercial Lunar Payload Services and other government contracts. Peregrine Mission One launched in January 2024 but failed to reach the Moon; Griffin-1 is targeted for launch from late 2026. Voyager Technologies (NYSE: VOYG) closed its acquisition of Astrobotic on July 10, 2026 for $162.2 million base consideration plus up to $128.8 million in earnouts, and it now operates as Voyager Lunar Systems.
