CarLotz was a US used-vehicle consignment-to-retail business running retail hubs and an e-commerce platform. Its consignment model and Retail Remarketing service sourced cars from corporate fleets and individual owners, giving sellers retail-channel access and buyers prices below traditional dealerships. Founded in Richmond, Virginia in 2011, it listed on Nasdaq as LOTZ in January 2021 via a SPAC merger with Acamar Partners Acquisition Corp. Shift Technologies acquired CarLotz in a stock-for-stock merger completed December 2022 and retired the brand; Shift and its CarLotz subsidiaries filed for Chapter 11 in October 2023 and wound down operations.
