Founded in Toronto in 2014, it combined with WonderFi Technologies and CoinSmart Financial in July 2023 to form Canada's largest regulated crypto trading group. Robinhood Markets completed its C$250-million acquisition of WonderFi on June 1, 2026, making Coinsquare an indirect Robinhood subsidiary. Coinsquare and sister platform Bitbuy are being folded into the Robinhood brand, with customers migrating to the Robinhood app in phases while their accounts stay with Coinsquare Capital Markets.
