EQRx was a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based pharmaceutical company founded in 2019 by Alexis Borisy, Melanie Nallicheri, Peter Bach and Sandra Horning with the mission of inventing or licensing similar-but-improved versions of top-selling specialty medicines (initially in oncology and immune-inflammatory disease) and selling them at dramatically lower prices. The company raised roughly $750M across Series A (Jan 2020) and Series B (Jan 2021) before merging with SPAC CM Life Sciences III in December 2021, listing on Nasdaq as EQRX with approximately $2.0B in cash. After regulatory setbacks and a strategic reset in 2023 that abandoned the low-price model and cut more than half of staff, EQRx was acquired by Revolution Medicines in an all-stock deal that closed November 9, 2023, effectively transferring its remaining ~$1B cash balance to Revolution.
