Gilt Groupe is an American online flash-sale retailer founded in 2007 in New York City. It pioneered the members-only flash-sale model in the U.S., offering luxury designer apparel, accessories, home goods and travel at steep discounts during brief 36-48 hour sales. After reaching a $1B valuation in 2011, Gilt struggled to achieve profitability and was sold to Hudson's Bay Company for $250M in 2016, then sold again to Rue La La in 2018 to form Rue Gilt Groupe.
