Founded in 2020 by former OnDeck and Better.com CFO Howard Katzenberg, the New York-based startup combines invoice automation (data extraction, GL coding, bill approvals, payments, accruals, and prepaid amortizations) with machine-learning-driven spend analytics that flag duplicate invoices, billing errors, anomalous activity, and vendor savings opportunities. In April 2025, Glean.ai was acquired by embedded SMB financing company Pipe in an all-stock deal valuing the combined entity at $2 billion, adding spend management to Pipe's embedded financial solutions suite.
