Good Catch (operated by parent Gathered Foods) was a plant-based seafood brand founded in 2016 by chef-brothers Chad and Derek Sarno along with Chris Kerr, Eric Schnell and Marci Zaroff. The company produced fish-free tuna, crab cakes, fish burgers, fish filets and breaded fillets formulated from a six-legume blend (peas, chickpeas, lentils, soy, fava and navy beans) with algal oil for omega-3s. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, with a dedicated Trellis production facility in Heath, Ohio (commissioned 2020), Good Catch raised more than $80M from impact investors, strategic CPG players (General Mills' 301 Inc., Maple Leaf Foods' Greenleaf, Louis Dreyfus Company) and celebrity backers (Woody Harrelson, Paris Hilton, Shailene Woodley, Lance Bass). In September 2022, Gathered Foods sold Good Catch's North American operations to Wicked Kitchen in an all-stock deal, retaining the U.K. business. In July 2024, Gathered Foods sold its Trellis plant-based production facility in Heath, OH to Ahimsa Companies, completing its pivot to a B2B/ingredients and IP partner model.
