GreenLight Biosciences is a biotechnology company developing RNA-based products for both agricultural and human-health markets. The company uses a proprietary cell-free biological energy production platform to produce double-stranded and messenger RNA at commercial scale, enabling applications such as RNA biopesticides for crop protection (including Calantha, the first foliar-applied RNA pesticide registered under FIFRA for Colorado potato beetle control) and mRNA vaccines and therapeutics for human health. Founded in 2008 by Andrey Zarur and headquartered in Medford, Massachusetts, GreenLight went public via a SPAC merger with Environmental Impact Acquisition Corp. (ENVI) in February 2022 at an enterprise value of approximately $1.2 billion, trading on Nasdaq as GRNA. After its share price collapsed and capital became scarce, the company was acquired in July 2023 by a consortium led by Fall Line Endurance Fund in a $45.5 million go-private transaction at $0.30 per share, delisting from Nasdaq and returning to private ownership.
