Jet.com was an e-commerce marketplace founded by Marc Lore, Mike Hanrahan, and Nate Faust in April 2014. The company operated as an online shopping platform offering millions of SKUs and used algorithms to dynamically adjust prices based on member shopping baskets. Jet achieved $1 billion in gross merchandise value run-rate within its first year and amassed a growing customer base primarily among urban and millennial shoppers. The company was acquired by Walmart for $3.3 billion in August 2016, completing in September 2016. Walmart integrated Jet's operations and continued the brand until May 19, 2020, when Jet.com was discontinued and customers were directed to Walmart.com.
