Linfre Education AB (commonly Lin Education) is a Swedish education technology company founded in 2007 by Josef Lind and headquartered in Gothenburg. The business originated as a distributor of IT hardware (computers, laptops, tablets) to Swedish schools and pre-schools and expanded into digital content, teacher training, and supplementary services for digital learning environments, deploying hundreds of thousands of digital tools across Swedish municipalities. In February 2017 Linfre Education was acquired by Nordic private equity firm Summa Equity. In April 2019 the Lin Solutions business unit (hardware/digital tools and related services) was divested to Norvestor-backed Xllnc (later rebranded as Foxway), while Summa Equity retained the Lin Software business focused on the Loops collaborative learning platform, originally developed inside Lin Education in 2012 and launched commercially in late 2017.
