Newark, California, United States Automotive Public

Lucid Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: LCID), commonly known as Lucid Motors, is an American electric vehicle manufacturer headquartered in Newark, California. Originally founded in 2007 as Atieva to develop battery technology and electric powertrains, the company pivoted to building full luxury electric vehicles after Peter Rawlinson, formerly the chief engineer of the Tesla Model S, joined as CTO in 2013. It rebranded to Lucid Motors in October 2016 and unveiled its first prototype, the Lucid Air sedan, in December of that year. Lucid manufactures vehicles at its AMP-1 plant in Casa Grande, Arizona, with current products including the Lucid Air luxury sedan and the Lucid Gravity SUV. The company went public in July 2021 via a SPAC merger with Churchill Capital Corp IV and is majority-owned (approximately 57%) by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) through its affiliate Ayar Third Investment Company. Lucid has also expanded into robotaxi partnerships, notably with Uber.
