NEXT Trucking is a digital freight marketplace and port drayage specialist founded in 2015 in El Segundo, California, matching shippers with truck capacity across drayage, transloading and over-the-road moves on its ATLAS automation platform. Backed by Sequoia Capital, Brookfield and GLP, it raised about $123M before merging into Chicago-based digital freight broker CDL 1000 in February 2024 alongside Hickory Transportation Services, under a new parent brand, Batch Freight. FreightWaves reported in September 2024 that NEXT had furloughed most remaining staff, lost its Amazon and Tesla accounts and effectively ceased operations.
