Nikola Corporation designed and built battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell heavy-duty trucks and HYLA hydrogen fuelling infrastructure. Founded by Trevor Milton in 2014 and headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, with a plant in Coolidge, it went public in June 2020 through a merger with the SPAC VectoIQ Acquisition Corp. Fraud findings against its founder and persistent liquidity problems followed. Nikola filed for Chapter 11 on February 19, 2025, sold its Arizona plant and equipment to Lucid, was delisted from Nasdaq on April 14, 2025, and is being wound down under a Plan of Liquidation confirmed on September 12, 2025.

Nikola completed its merger with VectoIQ Acquisition Corp. on 3 June 2020 and began trading on Nasdaq as NKLA on 4 June 2020, at an implied enterprise value of about $3.3 billion and alongside a $525 million PIPE of 52,500,000 shares at $10.00 per share. The company filed for Chapter 11 on 19 February 2025; Nasdaq suspended trading on 26 February 2025 and the delisting took effect on 14 April 2025, after which the shares traded over the counter as NKLAQ. Under the Chapter 11 Plan of Liquidation, on which the court ruled from the bench on 5 September 2025 and entered its written order on 12 September 2025, all common stock and equity securities exercisable for common stock are cancelled and equity holders receive nothing on account of those interests. There is no prospect of a future listing.
