OneWeb

London, United Kingdom Space Technology Acquired

Eutelsat OneWeb is a subsidiary of Eutelsat Group operating a low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation of 652+ active satellites providing high-speed, low-latency connectivity. Originally founded as WorldVu by Greg Wyler in 2012, OneWeb filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March 2020 but emerged in November 2020 with investment from the UK Government and India's Bharti Global. In September 2023, OneWeb merged with Eutelsat, creating a unique multi-orbit satellite operator combining LEO and GEO capabilities. The constellation operates at 1,200 km altitude with 12 orbital planes, delivering 195 Mbps+ download speeds with 99.5% reliability to government, defense, telecom, maritime, and aviation customers. Eutelsat OneWeb is developing a second-generation constellation (Gen2) targeting service entry around 2028.
