Ribbon Home

New York, NY Real Estate / PropTech Acquired

Ribbon Home was a New York-based proptech startup founded in 2017 by Shaival Shah and Wei Gan that offered a 'power buying' platform enabling homebuyers to make cash-backed offers. Ribbon would purchase a home on behalf of the buyer and give the buyer up to 180 days to secure traditional mortgage financing, helping families compete with all-cash and institutional buyers. The company raised over $625M in equity and debt from investors including Greylock, Bain Capital Ventures, NFX, Nyca Partners, Thomvest, Greenspring Associates, and Goldman Sachs. After the housing market slowdown in 2022, Ribbon laid off ~85% of its staff and was acquired by sale-leaseback proptech EasyKnock in May 2023. EasyKnock itself collapsed in December 2024, and Ribbon's brand and core technology were subsequently acquired by Dallas-based Hurst Lending in July 2025, where it now operates as a division offering alternative home financing.
