Saavn (now operating as JioSaavn) is a digital music streaming service focused on South Asian and Bollywood music, with a global catalog spanning multiple languages. Founded in 2007, it began as a B2B music licensing operation serving platforms such as Hulu, Netflix and Amazon before pivoting to a consumer (B2C) streaming app in 2009. The company offers on-demand streaming, radio, podcasts, and original programming including its Artist Originals (AO) label. In March 2018, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) executed a transaction to combine its JioMusic service with Saavn in a deal valued at over US $1 billion, with RIL acquiring a majority stake; the integrated entity was rebranded JioSaavn and operates as part of the Reliance Jio digital ecosystem. JioSaavn is one of India's largest music streaming platforms, competing with Spotify, Apple Music, Gaana and Wynk Music.
