Signal Sciences

Culver City, CA, USA Cybersecurity Acquired

Signal Sciences was a US-based web application security company that built a next-generation Web Application Firewall (WAF) and Runtime Application Self-Protection (RASP) platform. Founded in 2014 by former Etsy engineers Andrew Peterson, Nick Galbreath, and Zane Lackey, the company offered a developer-first, hybrid-deployment WAF/RASP solution that protected web applications, microservices, and APIs across cloud, on-premises, and containerized environments. At the time of its acquisition, Signal Sciences protected more than 40,000 applications and over a trillion production requests per month for customers including Under Armour, Duo Security, WeWork, and Chef. The company was acquired by Fastly on October 1, 2020 for approximately $775 million, and its technology now powers the Fastly Next-Gen WAF and the Secure@Edge platform.
