Singularity University (legally Singularity Education Group, also branded Singularity Group and SingularityU) is a US-based executive education company, business incubator, and consultancy focused on exponential technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, biotech, and space. Founded in 2008 at NASA Research Park in Silicon Valley by inventor and futurist Ray Kurzweil and X Prize chairman Peter Diamandis, with founding support from Google, Genentech, Autodesk, Nokia, LinkedIn, ePlanet Ventures and the Kauffman Foundation, Singularity University runs flagship executive programs, a Global Summit conference series, and a SingularityU global chapter network. Although it uses the word 'university' in its brand, it is not an accredited academic institution. In 2013 it converted from a not-for-profit into a for-profit benefit corporation under Singularity Education Group, and in 2018 raised a $32M Series B co-led by WestRiver Group and Boeing. Following a 2019 ownership change associated with WestRiver Group / Boundless Group, the company rebranded its umbrella entity to Singularity Group and now offers Singularity Executive Program, custom corporate programs, and a Future of AI program for senior leaders.
