Swiss-Mile (rebranded to RIVR in January 2025) is an ETH Zurich spinout building AI-powered wheeled-legged quadruped robots for last-mile delivery, inspection and industrial applications. Founded in April 2023 by Marko Bjelonic, Giorgio Valsecchi, Lorenz Wellhausen, Alexander Reske and Marco Hutter following six years of research at ETH Zurich's Robotic Systems Lab, the company developed a hybrid platform combining wheels and legs that can roll on flat ground, climb stairs and navigate complex urban environments. Swiss-Mile/RIVR was acquired by Amazon in March 2026 to support Amazon's doorstep delivery and last-mile logistics ambitions.
